SIFC '97 BOYS WIN INDIANA CHALLENGE CUP
Sporting Indiana's '97 boy's team won the Indiana State Challenge Cup for the 2011-2012 year.  The team is coached by Matt Mayhew and assisted by Andrew Gray and Joe Foulds.

The team went unbeaten in their preliminary group in Evansville earlier in May.  The team knocked off Dynamo FC Black (8-0), Columbus Express Blue (9-0) and Westfield '97 White (1-0).  In the semi-final match the '97 boys knocked off NWI United Premier (5-2).

It was a tougher final against ISL team Elkhart County Flames.  The '97 boys took a commanding 3-0 lead before halftime, before letting the Elkhart team back in the game in the second half.

The game tied 3-3 at the end of regulation and two overtime periods to come were all part of the drama. In the first overtime session Sporting had multiple chances to take the lead, but didn't capitalize.  In the second overtime (85th minute) Pendleton's Landon Connor put away the game winner right in front of the goal with only five minutes remaining.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE INDIANA CHALLENGE CUP CHAMPIONS!
