With the Spring Season rapidly approaching,  I wanted to bring a new program to your attention.  At the end of every season, assuming that your family is like mine, used cleats, shin guards, and soccer balls begin to accumulate in our closets or garages.  It is a given that my kids will grow out of these items, and they will need to be replaced the following season.  I always plan to donate these items, but by time I actually get around to making a trip to Goodwill they have been misplaced.  Sound familiar?

Geist Area Soccer League, in conjunction with Sporting Indiana FC, would like to solve this problem with the “Shoe Swap” program.  We would like to begin collecting used equipment, with the intent to distribute the gear to our local families that can put the equipment to good use.  The popularity of soccer continues to rise, and so does the cost of equipment.  Our donations will assist to provide children the opportunity to participate in our league, who otherwise may not have been able to play due to the expense.  If our league’s equipment needs are met, we will then pass the equipment on to local sports charities.  On the last day of the season, we will set up a donation area for players that would like to donate their unwanted soccer equipment as your players walk off the field for the final time. In the event that you have equipment you would like to donate now or even during the middle of the season, please contact me and I will collect it from you.

If you have a donation and want to post your own unwanted equipment, you will be able to do that as well.  If your player is in need of equipment families can post a "Want Ad" or if you feel more comfortable contacting me directly, do not hesitate to reach out and I will post the need.
